What is IELTS:
The International English Language Testing System, or IELTS, was created to evaluate and estimate the language skills of persons who want to further their education or pursue a career in which English is the primary language of communication. According to data, around 2 million test takers participate each year. IELTS is recognized and accepted by almost 9,000 institutions, including colleges, employers, professional associations, immigration authorities, and other government entities.
Why IELTS:
IELTS is the most neutral and reliable English proficiency test accessible for study, employment, and immigration. Most academic institutions in English-speaking nations, including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, and an increasing number of educational institutions in the United States, accept IELTS for study. In addition, IELTS is used for job purposes, and many professional organizations recognize it as the standard test. Even in migration, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada governments need or recognize IELTS for permanent residency.
ABOUT IELTS:
There are two versions of IELTS
Academic Module: This module is for the students who are seeking admission to a university or institution for higher education which are degree and diploma courses.
General -Training Module: This module is for students seeking entry to a secondary school or people taking the test for immigration purposes.
The test has four sections:
The total time for the test is 2 hours 45 minutes.
1. Listening- 4 sections, 40 questions, 30 minutes
2. Speaking- interview, 15 minutes
3. Reading- different for Academic and General Training – 3 sections, 40 questions, 60 minutes
4. Writing- different for Academic and General Training- 2 pieces of writing, 60 minutes.
IELTS Test Structure
IELTS test has four modules
Reading: Students will have one hour to complete all three parts of the IELTS Academic reading test. The Reading part includes a paragraph and questions based on it. There are multiple-choice questions, true/false/not given, and sentence completion. Graph solving is also part of the reading test.
Writing: The writing test contains two 60-minute tasks. Task 1 lasts 20 minutes, whereas Task 2 lasts 40 minutes. Academic assignments need you to solve a graph in 20 minutes and write a paragraph in 40 minutes. General IELTS test. job 1 is letter writing, while job 2 is a professional-style paragraph.
Listening: The listening test lasts 40 minutes and requires you to answer 40 questions based on an audio sample. Section 1 of the Listening Test features a two-way conversation between native speakers. Section 2 involves Listening to specific information. You must identify the speakers, match items, identify functions, take notes, and comprehend categories. In Section 3, you must recognize paraphrase. In this unit, you will practice spotting distractions, selecting from a list, and completing sentences. Section 4 will include a description of places and directions. In this unit, you will practice interpreting a place description, following directions, and answering multiple-choice questions.
Speaking: The speaking test lasts 11-15 minutes. The first test will need you to employ accurate tenses while speaking. Grammatical range and accuracy. You should talk about common issues that are relevant to your surroundings and current events.
In Part 2 of speaking you will be asked to talk about a specific topic. There will be a Cue card round also.
Part 3 consists of questions which are based on part 1 & 2.
